Cork’s two panels at the all-Ireland Inter-county Youth Darts Championship, in Ennis on March 8

Throughout 2014, management of Cork Youth Darts is planning on organising many tournaments throughout the county, including in West Cork. West Cork players currently included in the Cork panels and recent tournaments include Aaron Crowley, Ben Harrington and Luke Harrington (Bandon), Jack O’Hea (Aughaville) and Niall O’Regan (Skibbereen).

In this past month, Cork brought three teams to the Munster Youth inter-county Darts Championship. With 14 teams entered, Cork Youths had two teams topping their groups and winning their quarter-finals, with one reaching the final. With players ranging from nine to 17 years-old; this is the greatest Cork Youth Darts Panel in recent times.

Two weeks later, Cork also brought two teams, (14 players) to the All-Ireland Championships in Ennis, including Bandon’s Aaron Crowley and  Jack O’Hea from Aughaville.

Cork’s two teams saw wins against Kerry, Louth, Tipperary B, Limerick, Clare and Donegal with some outstanding darts thrown all day. Cork B team was very unlucky to lose out to Limerick in the last 16. Cork A team topped their group and went on to beat Donegal in quarter final. In the semi- final they faced a very good Tipperary A team. It went down to the wire and unfortunately Cork lost 2-3. Every youth can hold their heads up high for the performance and commitment they showed.

Cork Youths have drawn players from the four corners of the county and in this coming season they are looking forward to seeing many more players from this part of the county representing Cork. For Cork Youth Darts details see www.facebook.com/CorkYouthDarts.
