This coming Sagittarius Full Moon on June 13 is not just for mythical four legged beasts to enjoy. The Moon is waxing to its full phase, as we approach the culmination of the Sun’s northerly journey during the Solstice. The sign of Cancer, the natural home sign for the Moon, has extra significance this month and brings the Lunar energies to a peak.

The Solstice can be noted astrologically, as the moment the Sun passes into the first degree of the Zodiac sign of Cancer. (June 21 at 10.52 UT) Representing the archetypal mother principal, Cancer is the sign of the nurturing feminine side of our nature. At the time of year when in the Northern hemisphere our crops and potential food sources are still vulnerable, needing vigilant care to bring them to fruition, this sign oversees the process. The Cancerian nurturing theme can apply to all things that need tending, compassion and gentle attention to help them on towards fulfilling their potential, whether it’s children, plants, baby animals, relationships, projects, ideas or enterprises.

Whilst the Moon is in the sign of Sagittarius for only just over two and a half days, the planet Jupiter which rules Sagittarius is in the Moon’s sign, Cancer over a period of about a year. When two planets are in each others home ruling signs astrologers call it a mutual reception and the planets involved have an enhanced effect.

Just to add to the impact of the Full Moon mutual reception, the Planet Jupiter is at the equivalent zodiac degree as the Sun/Moon position and forms a challenging quincunx angle which suggests some personal adjustment is required to reach the promise of the planets involved.

Jupiter rules over Sagittarius and represents our spiritual aspirations and urge to expand, seek greater knowledge, expose ourselves to new experiences, find fulfilment and generally enjoy being alive. He is particularly comfortable (exhalted) in Cancer where this warm expansive energy can be directed into personally meaningful endeavours. The Moon is our mood, our sensitivity, a longing for something familiar and inner security — it is our emotional life, our soulful side. At Full Moon that yearning or need for ‘connection’ becomes temporarily satisfied, as whatever has been increasing becomes fulfilled. At New Moon that impulse towards satisfaction starts building in intensity again. In Sagittarius the Moon is seeking some higher knowledge, or greater possibility. It wants to go where it hasn’t been before. The Sun in the opposite sign of Gemini is emphasising connections of the mental kind — putting thoughts together and forming relationships between ideas or information.

Although this combination is not likely to set off a major event, it can put an increased focus on the spiritually meaningful dimension in our lives. This peaking energy pattern could supply the opportunity to reach for your ‘life-path goal’ along with the required impulse to make whatever adjustments are needed to bring it into it’s full potential. At least it is likely to bring some new understanding that will put you more consciously on the path of your soul’s journey or towards a deeply personal ambition.

If you’re familiar with your personal birth chart, you can see which area of life is likely to be affected by these planetary dynamics by finding where the Sun, Moon and Jupiter fall in your chart during the Full Moon or New Moon phase.

The next Full Moon is at 22° Sagittarius on June 13 at 5:12am and the following New Moon is at 6° Cancer on June 27, 9:10am

Aries: During this Full Moon travel, higher learning, study and spiritual matters can occupy your mind. You've had enough of the ‘everyday’ in life and you want freedom to explore new ground or invite new experiences into your life. This is a great time to think big and make the most of opportunities that come your way. You may get a chance to travel or welcome an overseas visitor. Be prepared to open your mind to new ideas and lifestyles. You'll likely find your attention and energy go into taking care of domestic or family concerns later in the month.

Taurus: This Full Moon might be a trying period. You may feel unusually anxious and worried about all manner of things. Your attention is being drawn to the patterns that create life’s ups and downs but you may just be focused on the negative side of a cycle at the expense of the positive. This slow growth moment is likely not as productive as you hoped. A pause gives you time to consider what is truly worth keeping and what you can dispense with. It’s a great opportunity to smooth out what doesn’t flow well in your life in preparation for a busier phase after the next New Moon.

Gemini: Make this Full Moon an opportunity for dealing with any relationship issues. Personal and professional partnerships need your attention now. Interesting and stimulating people may come into your life and you’ll want to find time for intimate encounters or shared experiences. You are aware of how much you have to give but guard against taking others for granted; they won't appreciate it if you do. You have the most freedom when you can get things into a healthy balance and you'll need to find time to assess your own personal reserves, skills and talents later this month.

Cancer: This Full Moon phase you'll want to focus your attention on the practical demands of life. Some responsibilities and obligations, once accepted, will benefit you in due course. Feeling you must do more than you really need to can create some stress but any self-improvement effort pays rewards. This is the time to kick old habits and break up unproductive routines. Once you've completed the tasks, you'll be able to stand back and take pride in your accomplishments. If you invest in yourself now then you can put your best foot forward with confidence later in the month.

Leo: During this Full Moon phase your creative powers are at a peak. You want to have fun and taking chances might pay off. Don't take yourself too seriously and you will reap the rewards. Whatever you do make sure you give plenty of scope to your originality. Get yourself noticed. You may be surprised at what you come up with by just playing around with ideas or projects. Your romantic feelings are more intense now and children may take an important role in your life. You'll have the chance to take time out for rest and recuperation during the New Moon phase.

Virgo: Home and family matters occupy your life during this Full Moon. Concentrate your energy into ventures that give you a sense of security and wellbeing. You've given all you can to worldly affairs for a while and now you may feel like staying home and building up your reserves. Sticking with familiar surroundings and intimate company gives the freedom to nurture what’s really important to you. This is a good time to complete unfinished projects and don’t try to get started on anything new just yet. Expect a new phase of welcome rewards with a sense of fulfillment to emerge after the New Moon.

Libra: You may find yourself called on by neighbours or asked to get involved with community ventures during this Full Moon phase. A lot of energy may be used up in trivial or lighthearted conversation but going deep isn’t the mood of the moment. You may feel restless if you don’t find activities that stimulate your mind. Seek out alternatives to what you already know. Catch up on correspondences or to do some creative writing. News and information is flowing your way. There are more opportunities to build on your public reputation or get noticed for your achievements during the next few weeks.

Scorpio: This Full Moon phase finds you concerned with your material and financial security. Impulse buying, or conversely, stinginess might be a problem now depending on how you feel about the state of your resources. This is a good time to consider if you are making the best of your natural skills and abilities. You might be underestimating yourself or not yet utilising all the tools in your bag for your greater benefit. Actual money isn’t the only source of wealth and you may find you have abundance in another form. Once latent talents are recognised you will aim higher and you'll want to expand your horizons very soon.

Sagittarius: During this month’s Full Moon phase your need for self-expression and communicating your personal vitality are priority. Getting a glimpse of your unique personality in action gives you a better sense of who you are. The emphasis is on putting the stamp of your individuality on everything you do. You are especially sensitive to environmental conditions and your own moods and this doesn't make for sharing. Relationships are a two-way flow but now you want the ball firmly back in your court. You can take time to sift through what is no longer desirable or of value after the New Moon.

Capricorn: Your inclination is to shun any attention and keep pretty much to yourself during the Full Moon period. You can be very productive throughout this phase by just quietly working away behind-the-scenes. Taking time out to relax, daydream or meditate regenerates the spirit and brings you closer to your creativity. Reconnecting with your inner world is important for your sense of equilibrium. Valuable insights and breakthroughs are possible. Enjoy the quiet ‘alone time’ whilst you can, as the demands of your outer world will encroach again soon enough. Once refreshed you will have time and energy to share and enjoy your relationships again.

Aquarius: The Full Moon highlights your position within your community. You can see that what you have to offer is appreciated by those concerned and this is a time of reaping the rewards of your past contributions. You've wanted more creativity and time to enjoy life so this is a good time to crank up your social life and meet people; the benefits will soon follow. The phrase “what you put in is what you get out” is the key. This feel good phase will give you the required energy to address practical issues as they arise later in the month.

Pisces: Vocational concerns and your reputation are likely to dominate during this Full Moon. If you’re not already striking out to fulfill your ambitions then now is the time to make plans for your future. Getting yourself some recognition for what you do well takes on extra significance. Self acknowledgment only takes you so far and now you need some approval from those you respect. If you want to launch your career or go a step further then move to build on what you have accomplished. It may seem like constant hard work but the New Moon phase will bring a much needed chance to relax and have some fun.
