Sherkin Island, the picturesque island off the coast of Baltimore, is the place to be on Saturday, August 9 for the inaugural Do Run Run – an 8k non-competitive fun run/walk around.

A second route, which is 4k, will also be available to participants and is ‘Buggy Friendly’ for those who want to bring the whole family. Enjoy spectacular views of the Beacon, Cape Clear, Horse Shoe Harbour and the Mizen peninsula, as you discover this beautiful island and all in aid of charity – the organising committee has chosen Baltimore Lifeboat, West Cork Cancer Connect and Baltimore Community Swimming Pool as beneficiaries.

The Do Run Run will begin and end at the Islanders Rest on Sherkin Island. The committee are grateful to all the residents and landowners on the island, along with Skibbereen Lions Club, for their cooperation in hosting this event.

The route will be a combination of roads, off-road terrain and beaches which people can run, jog or walk. This is a non-competitive event with the emphasis on fun and enjoyment. There will be water stops on route and the event will finish off with free open-air music at the Islanders Rest.

Visit Facebook – The Do Run Run and click on the link to register. The event is expected to sell out so it is advisable to register early to avoid the disappointment.

Entry fee includes return ferry from Baltimore, adults €15, children under 16 only €2.50.

Further enquiries to Garry (086) 8328394 or Cian (086) 3992562.
