On March 3, Drimoleague native Sean O’Driscoll, Chairman and CEO of Glen Dimplex Group, was named Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur by French Ambassador to Ireland Jean-Pierre Thébault during a ceremony at the French Embassy in Dublin. The Legion of Honour is one of the world’s most widely recognised decorations and is awarded for excellent civil merit or military conduct.

On receiving the award, Sean said, “France is a country and society of beauty, culture and freedom. Ireland and France share many deep historical, cultural and business links. France has been an incredible friend over many centuries and particularly so during the recent financial crisis. I am deeply honoured to receive this distinction from such a remarkable county.”
