The construction of a new €4.5million state-of-the-art swimming pool for Dunmanway is to commence in June.  The project consists of the construction of a new modern green architecture municipal swimming pool, to replace the existing pool, including a 25 metre pool, toddler’s pool, hydrotherapy pool, gym, sauna and steam room along with provisions for office space and cafeteria.

Councillor Declan Hurley, who was instrumental in this development, said “I am delighted with the announcement that the project, which will see the development go to tender in March and construction due to commence in June, with the projected completion date set for December 2015. The swimming pool is a vital piece of infrastructure for the town of Dunmanway. It is a huge attraction to the town, and now it will be developed into a state of the art amenity for Dunmanway and the surrounding areas.

“The new pool will be built on the site of the existing children’s playground, with a children’s activity zone being built on a new site on the eastern side of the pool in the coming weeks to complement the already installed out-door gym,” added Cllr Hurley.
