The Local Enterprise Office Cork North and West will run an exciting networking afternoon on Friday, January 27 at Fernhill House Hotel, Clonakilty. The event will take place from 2 to 4pm with keynote speaker Gwenn Clayton.

Gwenn’s talk is entitled  ‘2017, Innovation, Growth and You – 8 Steps To Greater Innovation’.

Do you want to innovate and grow your business in 2017 but feel uncertain as to how? Are there other areas where you want to achieve new results too?

Gwenn has helped business leaders clarify and achieve results in small, medium and multinational companies since 1992. She is the creator of ‘The Growth Strategy Day’ ¬– time out for business owners and/or their teams to refresh their strategy. ‘The High Performance Accelerator’ – a one-to-one executive leadership development programme and www.BizResultsAcademy.com a five-week challenge: enabling business owners to clarify what’s most important, become more strategic, accelerate their productivity, anticipate obstacles and increase their influence.

During this thought-provoking afternoon, you will also have a chance to easily network with those in attendance. So join us on January 27, network and let’s talk about what it takes to grow and innovate, together!

Dúchas Clonakilty's first lecture for the Autumn promises to be of huge interest to all: Emerging from the Shadow of Tom Crean – The Parish Centre, Clonakilty, Thursday September 28th 8.30pm.

Lecture by Aileen Crean O’Brien & Bill Sheppard

In May 2016, Kerry man Tom Crean, along with Ernest Shackleton and four other crew members, landed the James Caird lifeboat on the rocky isle of South Georgia. The navigation of that small boat, across 1500 km through icy winds and towering seas, is regarded as the greatest ever feat of navigation. They then trekked across the forbidding and inhospitable mountains and glaciers of South Georgia to seek help for the rest of their crew, who were left behind on Elephant Island after their ship, the Endurance, was crushed by the Antarctic ice.

One hundred years later, Crean’s grandaughter, Aileen Crean O’Brien, set off with her sons and partner to follow in her grandfather’s footsteps. Join Aileen and Bill to hear of their adventures (and misadventures) on the Southern Ocean and the island of South Georgia.
