Grow It Yourself (GIY) have just announced details of their first book, called ‘GROW, COOK, EAT (A GIY guide to growing and cooking your own food)’ which will be published in October.
The book is a no-nonsense month-by-month guide to growing your own food, written by GIY’s Michael Kelly and featuring seasonal recipes from over 35 of their favourite chefs, cooks and growers including Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall, Dylan McGrath, Darina Allen, Neven Maguire, Marian Keyes, Rachel Allen, Clodagh McKenna, Donal Skehan, Mark Diacono, Joy Larkcom and Alys Fowler.
The book is being self-published by GIY, and all proceeds will be used to fund GROW HQ, their ground breaking national food education centre, opening in Waterford in 2015.
The annual GIY Gathering will take place this September 13-14, as part of the Waterford Harvest Festival. Learn about home-grown food from Klaus Laitenberger, Alys Fowler, Mark Diacono, Kitty Scully, Rory O’Connell and Sally McKenna Darina Allen to name a few.
