Any bride wants to look her best and most radiant with youthful glowing skin and without a blemish on her wedding day. La Jolie Clinic in Clonakilty, which specialises in non-invasive and non-surgical laser and aesthetic treatments, has proven results in making brides look their most beautiful and, believe it or not, wearing very little make-up on the big day.

“We are not about providing relaxing facials; we provide treatments that only focus on your skin issues and bring you the results that you want,” explains Louisa Walsh of La Jolie. Louisa Walsh is an expert in skincare products and advance skincare treatments. She is highly qualified in medical aesthetic treatments and skincare products and has 20 years of experience in the cosmetic industry, working with many French cosmetic brands.

Chemical peels

The use of chemical peels to soften and improve the appearance of the skin dates back to the ancient Egyptians. Nowadays, a peel involves applying a chemical solution to the skin to accelerate the skin’s natural exfoliation in a controlled way, so that new skin can grow in its place. “They can be used on most areas of the body, but are commonly used on the face and the back of the hands to improve rough skin texture, fine lines and wrinkles, age spots, sun damage, blemishes, scars,” explains Louisa.

The first step is a consultation and skin analysis to determine the type of peels you need. You will get a cleaner to use at home to prepare your skin.

The peels do not take long and you will a very gentle heat on your face during the treatment.

Your face will look a little bit red but you will get a home skincare product to help your skin, heal, restore and renew.

Your skin will then flake off gradually and be replaced by new fresh skin. Your aesthetician will give you advice for your post treatment.

A repeat application of the peel is recommended to achieve optimal results: four sessions at two weeks intervals.

Medical micro needling

This is a revolutionary treatment to treat acne scarring, wrinkles, fine lines and pigmentation. It involves putting a very fine needle into the skin to create microscopic channels. The dermis is encouraged to produce new collagen and elastin, which generates new skin cells and encourages the skin to heal, repair itself. The medical serums that are applied are up to 1000 more effective, as the pores are temporarily open and the active ingredients are absorbed deeper into the skin. The results are that the skin becomes thicker, plumper and more youthful.

Your skin will look red but you should go back to normal the day after the treatment.

A course from four to six sessions with a four-week interval is needed.

Face lifting and misotherapy

This treatment is for those who are starting to lose the muscle tone of their skin and are perhaps not happy with the wrinkles around the eyes and their skin texture, but don’t want to do through the painful and expensive surgical face lift. This gentle treatment is combined with misotherapy, which replaces the minerals, vitamins and amino acids that we lose as we age.

The benefit of this treatment is your skin will look firmer and fresher look skin.

For a maximum result, a course of three to four sessions with a 4 week interval is recommended.

No visible changes on your skin after the treatment.

Laser Hair Removal

If you’re a bride and annoyed by unwanted hair, the laser hair removal treatment at La Jolie is painless and efficient. A course of eight sessions is recommended, one laser treatment every four weeks over six months to eight months.

There is no redness or discomfort after treatment.

“All the treatments have very minimal sides effects and are painless,” says Louisa, “and before each treatment, you will have a consultation with me.”

Having met by chance in a pub, two aging writers continue a long night of drinking and reminiscing in a stately London home. As the night wears on, their conversation wanders through memories long forgotten or invented. Is their encounter real or a delusion? Are they strangers or do they share a past history? When unexpected guests intrude upon an increasingly surreal evening, the atmosphere quickly changes from friendly to threatening, and the encounter becomes a game of survival.
