Last month Willie Pa’s in Colomane, Bantry was named ‘Best Restaurant in Munster’ by food critics, in conjunction with food lover’s magazine Yes Chef. Willie Pa’s emerged as the winner against other finalists Fenn’s Quay in Cork City and Wild Geese in Adare, both renowned for their fine dining.

Manager Pat Murnane travelled up to Ballynahinch near Belfast to receive the award at a gala ceremony. Pat was also representing restaurateur Pat Kiely, who is no stranger to being on shortlists for top awards – both he and his second establishment, O’Connor’s Seafood on Bantry’s Square, have been nominated for, and won, some of Ireland’s top accolades in the past five years; O’Connor’s has just received the news that once again it has been included in the 2015 Michelin Guide.

Since taking over Willie Pa’s last year, owner and manager have assembled a top class team, both front of house and in the kitchen, and focused on creating a menu that showcased the quality of ingredients available in the valleys surrounding Bantry.

Their commitment has paid off and Pat Murnane commented that he felt “the award reflected the level that West Cork, and in particular Bantry, has reached as a ‘destination for food lovers’. I was honoured to collect this award in recognition of the quality we strive for.”

Willie Pa’s and O’Connor’s Seafood will be showcasing the food that has earned them such recognition in their Christmas menu which is available from December 1.

Diners can enjoy a four-course meal for €29.50, a price that allows more than one visit over the Christmas season.

Willie Pa’s will be bustling right through to January with regular music nights and Christmas parties. As well as their full Christmas Menu, finger food is available for parties of 20 people or more. To book for either restaurant call Pat on 027 55664 / 087 7887565.
