Silver winner Keohane’s of Bantry flies the Cork flag at Blás na hÉireann

Adding to the region’s culinary reputation, Keohane’s of Bantry has been awarded a Silver for its Dunnes Stores Simply Better Irish Organic Salmon Darnes at this year’s at the Blas na hEireann awards. The proud seafood company was amongst a select group of food producers who are part of the Dunnes Stores Simply Better Collection – together the group scooped an unprecedented 22 awards at Blas na hEireann 2017.

Silver also went to Ballyvourney based Follain Teo for their Handmade Irish Bramley Apple & Fig Chutney, which is produced exclusively for the Dunnes Stores Simply Better Collection.

The awards, which are also known as The Irish Food Awards, not only recognise and reward the very best of Irish food and drink products but also recognise the passionate food producers who are behind these great products.

Speaking after the Awards, Diarmuid Murphy, Brand Manager for Dunnes Stores Simply Better Collection stated “The producer story is so important to us and in Ireland we work directly with 55 producers who are as passionate about great food as we are. Our mission is to enable our customers to enjoy restaurant quality food at home, with the minimum of fuss and we do this by working with the very best of Irish producers, many of whom are being celebrated through these awards.”

The award we have won for our Simply Better Irish Organic Salmon and the other 21 awards that the collection has won demonstrates that what we are doing together works.”

Keohane’s awarding winning Organic Salmon Darnes for Dunnes Stores can be bought in Dunnes nationwide or visit Keohane’s fish shop at the Kinsale Road Roundabout for a large range of products and their weekly special offers.

REMINDER: An Garda Siochana are hosting a Retail Crime Prevention Meeting, to be held at 7pm on Wednesday 29th November 2017. This meeting will be held in the Munster Arms Hotel in Bandon. This meeting is one of a series being held across the West Cork Garda Division, in association with Operation Thor, the Garda National Anti-Crime Strategy. The purpose of the meeting is to increase the cooperation between Gardai and the retail sector, ensuring that the current low levels of crime in the locality extends past the busy approaching Christmas season. The meeting will be addressed by the local Crime Prevention Officer, Sergeant Ian O’ Callaghan, who will discuss burglary prevention, shoplifting, fraud, and cybercrime. There will be a particular focus on cash handling and cash exposure of businesses in the run up to the Christmas shopping period. All aspects of commercial crime will be discussed, and we would strongly urge all businesses to make a special effort to attend on the evening.
