Stars shine in Timoleague again

The 2014 Timoleague Star Search final was once again a huge success – won by Curraceol, a traditional Irish group from Newcestown and Ballincollig with Aaron O’Sullivan from Castlehaven coming in second and Aine Carroll from Mayfield third.

A Traditional Irish Music group winning the competition will hopefully give encouragement to the many talented young traditional musicians out there to compete next year.

The night commenced with the presentation of a cheque by Siobhan McCarthy to Mary O’Reilly for Deirdre’s Trust Fund, as a gesture of appreciation for the all the support Deirdre has given the Committee over the years. This was followed by all the finalists giving a fantastic performance of Avicii’s ‘Wake Me Up’ with Evan Murray (2013 Star Search Winner) taking the lead.

The judges, Pam Golden, Tirish Rooney and Pa McCarthy did an excellent job and the committee would like to thank them as well as MC Brian McSweeney.

2015 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Star Search Competition and it is hoped it will be the biggest yet!

A woodland walk will take place on the 22nd June at 7pm in Glengarriff Nature Reserve. This is a great opportunity to learn about woodlands, their plants and wildlife and is an opportunity not to be missed. Glengarriff Nature Reserve was designated as a Nature reserve in 1991, and covers over 300 acres in size.
