The very first Sheep’s Head Yarn Festival will take place from May 16 to 17, 2015.

The festival will host various workshops over the weekend for all skill levels for knitting, crochet, felting and spinning; creating a trail from the gateway of the Sheep’s Head peninsula at Durrus, along the wonderful coastal road to Ahakista and through to Kilcrohane, the last main village before the lighthouse at the tip of the peninsula.

The Sheep’s Head Producers’ group started in 2011 with a small Sunday market in the village of Kilcrohane. Since then it has expanded greatly within the community and it is with their support, as well as that of other local businesses and crafts people that festival organisers have found it possible to bring life to this event.

The Yarn Festival has created much excitement in this relativity small but extremely beautiful part of West Cork and organisers hope this event will become a regular fixture on the West Cork Calendar in years to come.
