‘An Evening in Vienna’

After a series of very successful Christmas Concerts in Skibbereen, Kinsale and Cork, the newly relaunched Allegria Concert Orchestra will present ‘An Evening in Vienna’, a glamorous night of music, dance and entertainment at Inchydoney Island Lodge and Spa, Clonakilty on Friday, February 14.

Guests will be treated to a drinks reception on arrival, and after dinner, can relax and enjoy a wonderful evening of entertainment. Waltzes, polkas, marches by the Strauss family will feature, as well as songs from the great Viennese operettas.

Patrons should note that dancing is not essential — for this event is not just a ball — it is also an evening of magnificent vocal music. Tenor Dan Twomey will be joined by sopranos Louise O’Sullivan, Carol Kennedy and Josephine Barry in a selection of romantic Viennese favourites. Demonstration dancers will also add flavor to the occasion with such classics as The Blue Danube, Tales from Vienna Woods and The Emperor Waltz.

All in all, what a perfect way to celebrate Valentine’s Day and the return of Spring.

A woodland walk will take place on the 22nd June at 7pm in Glengarriff Nature Reserve. This is a great opportunity to learn about woodlands, their plants and wildlife and is an opportunity not to be missed. Glengarriff Nature Reserve was designated as a Nature reserve in 1991, and covers over 300 acres in size. It is a beautiful and unique woodlands containing many different habitats and is owned and managed by NPWS primarily for conservation and amenity purposes.
